What's the best toaster you've owned?
Discussion
After 15 years of use, our old toaster has given up the ghost. It was an ancient Russell Hobbs one, built like a tank.
Unfortunately I had a new Russell Hobbs one bought for us for Christmas from Argos and it's useless, the toast is so uneven its not worth bothering, we've been using the oven grill
Anyone have a great toaster they'd like to recommend? £100 seems a lot for toaster but I've heard good things about this one http://tinyurl.com/8bdfc5

I've got the slightly earlier model than that, less rounded, more squared-off Old Skool style, and it's a four slot job. It cost about £90, back then, which was a lot...
Had it since 1989, and it's given great service ever since. One of the elements burnt out a couple of years back, and Dualit sent a new one by post next day, cost less than a tenner I think, and only needed a Phillips screwdriver to fit.

Bulletproof
I can see an episode of PistonHead TV dedicated to the exact ballistic-resistance qualities of various toasters in the offing. I'd put money on a £15 no-brand Asda special with some kevlar padding.I have one of these, a Breville Blue

Very pretty when all the lights are off

Dualits are the Bose of toasters.
IIRC, a cheap Swan toaster outperformed all others in a test on the Gadget Show.
Did the test include the all important "still working after being run over by a tank" test? All my kitchen appliances have to pass that one.IIRC, a cheap Swan toaster outperformed all others in a test on the Gadget Show.
