Where are the women that love cars?
Discussion
Every time the topic arises on pistonheads it seems that there are a rather large amount of girls and women who really love cars.
Why do you never meet them in real life?
Are girls/women just scared to talk about cars incase people think less of them or are they scared that a car nerd will jump on them?
Experience has taught me that girls are as much of a speed freak as me yet its so rare that it pops up!

If finding women who like cars is hard enough, finding one to like Subaru Legacy's will be an even tougher ask!
Fortunately my bases are covered on that score

PS. For the record I met my wife whilst racing - that is, as in competing against her. They do exist, but they're not exactly commonplace

Maybe thats the image that alot of girls are trying to avoid by not saying they like cars?ytrebil said:

This doesn't sound like a thinly veiled excuse to start salivating over female posters on PH, no siree, not one bit...
......no? really though; i do like to meet girls who like cars, but trying to pick them up on forums is a bit odd, no?
Surely if you go to meets/owners club shows/track days you will meet women into cars. But I think there is a big difference between women who love, understand & are into cars & those that are just impressed by them, so you'll have to do some hunting!

OH & I first got talking about cars, and I love dating a petrolhead, ex-OH didn't 'get' cars at all, & drove like a pleb, which was very frustrating, so that works both ways.
Just don't find one that likes dungarees to mess around the garage in, chances are she'll not be into you.

I'm pretty sure that my OH can't believe his luck that I'm so interested in cars - especially as I get tickets for the car shows we want to go to and he doesn't even have to think about it.
My interest in cars stems from my dad and from a young age I was going to watch him compete in rally events and other motorsport events. That was far more fun than trudging round shops with my mum, much to my mum's disappointment.
OH was especially proud when I actually started navigating on rallies for my dad too!
