Hi guys,

Im new to the tvr world, never really looked at them much, i own a 1969 MGB GT but a mate of mine recently bought an S3, well im now a huge tvr fan.
I had in mind to keep the MG but after experiencing a TVR im going to look to replace the MG for a TVR, probably an S to start with but being a true british classic fan id really like a Grantura or a vixen, an early ish classic TVR, i love 60's styling so want something similar to the MG, can anyone help me with info on these cars, im aware that the granturas are pretty rare but what is available, im looking for something with the earlier, curvey shape and rounded bonnet, im guessing a vixen would be easier to come by, wheres best to look for cars for sale etc? any help would be most appreciated.

many thanks

Doug.

Well I'm afraid you're unlikely to find a Grantura in your price bracket. MkIIIs are particularly valuable due to their racing capabilities. Vixens are cheaper but you won't find many decent ones under £5000

A 350i or S is probably the most bang for the buck, or you might find a Taimar or an early Chimera

well my price range is unlimeted, but not right now, im going to sell the GT (concourse) and also have a split screen VW camper, fully restored that will probably be going as well so once they are both sold i'll have the money, its just proving hard to come by the cars yet you guys all seem to have them, id love a projet but time wise getting one thats up and running but maybe in need of tlc would be a better bet, like the vixen in the ads, i love that car!
iv been reading through the threads and lots of you seem to have early TVRs that you are restoring/barn finds etc, i guess its a case of who you know not what you know??

That's the idea anyway. Tell him to get an S first chaps, I've been happy with mine so far and even though it may not be a 'classic' as you guys may call, it certainly has a same feel of unique specialness. yes

I think this video has influence on both myself and midgeman http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=W6zoJoIiG7g

Nice and dangerous.

I'd go the wedge route, pick up a decent one for well under 5K.

Nah, they were never dangerous - just a bit 'twitchy' when they let go that's all biggrin - and as they let go so often you soon get used to it. Compared to a 200, a Wedgie is like a Kia Picanto wink

I can imagine . . . The Kia is mega-dangerous though: ever drove one through some twisties at a decent pace? It'll kill you.
