Now that my cooling issue has been resolved I was out for a blast at lunchtime on New Years Eve minding my own business pottering along at about 50mph and a fcensoredg stupid pheasant decided to fly out of the trees and into my nearside wing mirror!

Upshot is that the mirror itself is smashed and the plastic cover will need replacing as it no longer attaches to the door without tape and the surround around the actual mirror was smashed. Most anoying though is the scuff on the door which I'm guessing will mean a respray of the whole door!

Thankfully the the door release mechanism still works as do all the electrics so I'm wondering what my best corse of action is. Should I buy a whole unit from a breakers or will I be able to buy just the plastic housing and the glass from a dealer?

I am being philosophical as I suppose it could've been a lot worse particularly if it had been a deer that I hit (I know having done that before!)

bugger, thats a pain in the arse. I believe pheasant heads are constructed entirely of lead.

Its going to be cheaper getting the bits from a breaker, but more of a pain in the arse fitting it yourself or getting it fitted then sprayed.

Personally I'd just do the one-stop shop and get a reputable dealer/body shop to do the lot.

Unfortunately the pheasant in question wasn't killed in the incident and was last seen limping off into the woods so I wasn't able to take it home and cook it - I'm sure it made a nice meal for a fox that evening though.

However in the spirit of your suggestion Daston I went to the local butchers and purchased a pheasant which I had for Sunday lunch yesterday and it was lovely! lick

Don't you start, they Mrs said the same thing when I got home with the wing mirror hanging off!

I agree I have had a bit of a run of bad luck but nothing that's put me off my Tuscan, I still love it and it still puts a huge smile on my face just to look at it let alone when I drive it. If I'm honest the big off on the M3 was bad but would've happened if I was in the Tuscan or my X5, the pheasant incident is anoying but again would've happened regardless of what I was driving and the collant problem, well that's just one of those things and was easily fixed. If these things come in threes I should be good for a while to come.

I'm gonna keep the Tuscan until at least June as I have to take it to Le Mans. After that who knows

How can you say that you are so fond of it, yet talk about the possibility of selling it after going to the Grand Prix?
Sounds like you're trying to justify your descission to buy it in the first place, to me?
Hang in there, you won't find a better looking car.

Hang on I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. That's not what I meant at all. I've had 2 bits of bad luck and it was suggested I should sell my Tuscan and I was saying that's not going to happen for the foreseeable.

Having been to Le Mans a dozen times I was soooo gutted that some censoredtt ran me off the motorway 4 days before Le Mans and I missed the chance to take my previous Tuscan to Le Mans last year. I almost took out a loan and bought another one the following day! So regardless of what happens come hell or high water there's no way I'm not taking my latest Tuscan to Le Mans this year. I'm so excited about the prospect it's ridiculous and there's still 6 months to wait!

I've wanted a Tuscan ever since I first saw one and as I said I love it. It's the best looking car on the road bar none and is just amazing to drive. I love the performance, the noise from my CCC's, the admiring looks it gets, everything. I find excuses to go out to the garage just to look at it and if I'm honest I still can't believe I'm lucky enough to own one.

That said nothing's for ever and ideally I'd love a orange Saggy with anthracite alloys and if I'm lucky enough maybe I'll sell the Tuscan one day and buy one.

Hope that clear things up.

How much can i bid for your car. It looks very nice. A friend of mine is actually looking for one at the moment, however she does want silver, her boyfriend has said a definate not, but he is a pisshead and not a pistonhead like us true petrolheads. She is quite cute and lives in Bray, blonde, you sound to me like an Amy Whitehouse sort of guy though

Dani I'm suprised to see a 'celeb' like you posting on a forum like this. BTW how did you feel about being the 2nd celeb booted out of the jungle? A refelction of your popularity perhaps?

Maybe we should meet and discuss the price of your car IF you are serious about selling it
