i have a car provided through work, in which i will do 25k business miles per annum, and around 3k private miles. I get a fuel card but pay back my private miles @12.5ppm.I pay tax on the car of about £2550

Will I be able to claim via P60 any tax back on this, i.e. mileage rates etc? I can't quite work it out from the info on the HMRC site.

thanks in advance

You will get a fixed BIK charge based on both the list price value of the car and on the fact that your employer pays for all of your fuel costs - both private and business.
You should be able to mitigate the fuel element of the BIK by offsetting the amount you pay back to your employer.

You need to make a claim for this by either

a) completing a self assessment tax return

b) completing a Form R40

c) phoning the Revenue and explaining the situation to them

Eric - what's the story on late tax returns this year? Is there an amnesty? I should be OK by the end of January, but was just curious.

Thanks. N.
