I am considering having the quick rack fitted to my car, and although I will arrange a drive in the Monkfish demo car in due course, I would, in the meantime, appreciate any comments from owners that have already have the modified rack on their vehicle.

My car is a 2004 CV8, and already has the Road Response Pack. It doesn't get thrashed, tracked or thrown sideways, but I live in a semi-rural area with plenty of bends, and seem to encounter loads of roundabouts wherever I go, so the prospect of a little more nimbleness (if that's a word) and less arm-twirling is quite appealing.

Thanks,
Richard.

After an interesting situation on an icy road the other day I too am thinking about one. How much is it?

Does anyone know what the ratio of these racks are? (i.e how many turns of the steering wheel does it take to go from one full lock to the other)

I dont know what the ratio of the quick rack is but i've had one fitted to my 5.7 vxr and its made a big difference. The car is alot more enjoyable to drive especially through the bends and at speed, it's also alot less exercise around town. It makes the steering feel more european instead of American/Australian with 50 turns lock to lock which can be very tricky if the back end does step out.

The reason I asked about the ratio is my CV8 has a HSV steering rack according to the previous owner, which from memory is about 3 to 4 turns lock to lock. I would go outside and check it now to be sure. However it’s at monkfish with a broken gearbox right now.
Unfortunately have never driven a standard CV8 so I have nothing to compare it with.

Got one on mine and I'd say do it. On the VZ it feels 'right'. Used to feel odd with all that arm-work, whilst the Focus ST I also drive felt good. It's how they should have sent them over to the UK.

Could someone with a standard CV8 post up the number of turns they have from lock to lock?

Just over 2 and a half turns lock to lock. Let's say 2 + 3/4. I have one of the first UK '04 CV8s and it has its original rack.

Mate, unless we're all wrong, that can't be a quick rack? At 2 1/2 turns, which my standard one is, it's too long winded to catch the back end when its trying to overtake the front at a rate of knots.

I think we may need the big fish to shed some light on this one.

Phorroman 2.5 turns (Quick Rack)
MYM8V8 2.5 turns (Maloo)
Ferb 3.25 turns (ute SS)
MoosePig 2.75 turns (Standard 04 CV8)

My rack was purchased from monkfish as the quickrack that they do and it certainly feels a lot quicker than the rack that was on the car originally. How many turns is yours lock to lock.
