Any opinions please if you had around £12-£13k budget which one would be better?

My thoughts are at the moment you can get a very nice 2005 147 GTA for around £11k or a 2005 GT V6 for £12-13k I know they both share the same engine and I would think gearbox I prefer the looks of the GT but does anyone else have an opinion either way?

Any ownership experiences?

personally i prefer the gta, im sure you could get one a year older than that for a LOT less money though. lovely cars either way.

I would go for the GTA too as it is more special.

I've just sold mine after three and a half years and it was fantastic.

As above, you'll be able to get one for way below your budget.

There is a comprehensive buyers guide in the GTA section at www.alfaowner.com

Main points are:

- Try and get one which has a Q2 diff fitted. These dramatically improve grip, eliminate torque steer and also eliminate the risk of the original diff going and lunching the gearbox.

- Cambelts should be changed every 3 years or 36k miles - not 5 years or 72k miles as per the handbook. Budget around £800 for this.

- Late model GTAs have 330mm front brakes which are meant to be less prone to warping.

- The exhausts also tend to corrode quite early so look for one with a stainless exhaust fitted.

Retro fitting a Q2 diff will cost around £500 and is the best value mod that I can think of.

I would have said GTA until my sister got a GT V6.

The interior is beautiful, the car is beautiful and with a Q2 and better suspension it will be faster than a GTA too - IIRC Evo did a test and found the GT quicker than a 156 GTA round a track.

But buy either and you will be one lucky happy bunny!

The 147's interior is the same as the GT's, but IMHO the GTA has better seats.

Also, the GT has 240 bhp and the GTA has 250 bhp smile

nuff said wink A bird would never buy a 147 gta. A 1.6 or 2.0 147 yes but not a GTA.

GTA, proper motor. smile

haha, good point smile She had a 156 2.5v6 before and thought the 156 GTA looked too mean. The case is closed

I'd go for the GTA, better looking by miles.

You'll love the V6 either way though (I've got V6 166)
