Not for the Lotus but the daily commute, seems really cheap (£218 when renewal quote with Admiral was £440) but I've heard mixed reports if you need to claim and also that you print your own certificate that DVLA / Post Office don't accept.

Anybody got any experience with them.....much appreciated

I've got my main car policy with them and it was very cheap. I had no problem with the printed insurance documents.

Also you can now do your tax online and it checks automatically so no need to go to a PO.

Never had to make a claim yet so cant comment on that aspect of the cover.

That's a lot of money to save in these recession days. If the only real hassle is taxing online, I reckon you may have to go for it.

I doubt if there are many big differences between them and others when it comes to claiming.

And hopefully, you won't have to.

I haven't had to claim, but their customer service has seemed much better than average the little I've had to use it. Always given me a good price on my daily driver.

Yeah, basically half price I know, just seems too good to be true. Probably give it a go and as you say hopefully won't have to claim.

Tax online easy I guess.

As long as it's legal and above board, which it presumably is, and the cover is acceptable, then I don't see the problem. Taking a few prints is no big deal, and getting tax online is great - much better than traipsing into the PO, standing in a queue and wasting 30mins of a weekend thumbup

I had to make a claim when someone drove into the back of me (luckily i was in the shed) and they basically did not want to know. I sustained whiplash yet I was told because i was only third party they would not persue my claim. I had to go through another company to claim back the chiropractor bills.
Yes cheap but st

No problem with the cert and the Post office in my case. Dont see how there could be since there isnt a legal prescribed form for the cert so it could be printed on a Tesco plastic bag and still be valid.

Well if you only have 3rd party this is a legal minimum. It's a very bad idea to have that alone if you want a good level of cover. It will not cover you at all and if you are not at all responsible for the accident, even then you have to claim from the other party.

That would be the same for all companies if you only had TP cover, Tanman. You were only covered for the damage you may do to other cars and people - and that was no doubt reflected in the premium.

Well ya live and learn all the time (yes it was a cheap premium as the car is only worth a few quid)! I thought as the accident was not my fault then the company would fight my corner. So what happens to the young people of today whose premiums are so high that they can only afford TP? Say if they have a half decent car (£2000-3000) and someone drives into them, that could mean no car and no come back. Insurance companies- all they seem to do is take take take.

Got my Wife's Citreon Picasso renewed from £350 (Swinton)to £200(Elephant)with a lower excess and better cover. This was found via Confused.com and the whole experience with Elephant has been very smooth to date. Fingers crossed not planning to claim any time soon!

you're still not understanding tan man. Third party means that you've got a conttrac with the insurance company to cover you for the damage you do to a third party. And third party alone. You are the first party so you arent covered and your claim against the other driver is absolutely nothing to do with them.

No i now understand where you are coming from bordseyethumbup, i just dislike insurance companies and perhaps going O/T venting my anger at them. My dad had his car stolen and they gave him a very poor offer dispite him battling it. You also get to hear many bad stories about insurance companies.

One point I would make about Swiftcover is to check the excess.... There are usually quite high compulsory excesses which have to be added to the voluntary excess you select

Mostly its because people dont understand what they are buying, cant be bothered to read the policy details (I never do) and then get an unpleasant surprise when they find they arent covered for everything they expected. But its fair to say that as people have shopped around, bought on price alone the companies have learned that there is nothing to be lost by being hard nosed. The days when companies took into account customer loyalty have long gone - they cant afford to be sentimental.

Plus there is a major industry in insurance fraud, often from people who are otherwise honest but regard insurance companies as fair game.

+1... well said, people really dont see the value in what they are buying. One question I always ask is... if car insurance wasnt compulsory would you still buy it. I think if you made it a choice, peoples thoughts on the value of it would change overnight (especially if they choose not to pay an insurer their £300 premium and were left with a £60k claim for third party damage and personal injury!)
