Hi all

I have a 111S S2 with manual windows....

The driver side window is extremely loose so am thinking about getting inside the door panel to take a look.

Anyone got any experience of doing this and how easy it is to replace parts your self.

Cheers

Don't attempt it without having a garage to put the car in just in case something goes wrong. Fiddly bl**dy job if you're going to to it properly, but can be done if you take your time. Not something you can rush.

Brilliant thanks for the link...not sure how i didn't find that my self!!!

Not sure it's adjustment though as it has a lot of play and the window seems to be in the correct position.

I'll give it a go tomorrow and let you know how it went..lol!

Have you had a look at the SELOC wiki topic? The window is secured to the runners by small clips, in which the window bottom-edge is glued. This eventually perishes and the lot falls apart, requiring either a) a new window or b) more commonly a strip-down, clean and re-attachment with new clips/glue etc.

I chickened out of doing it at the weekend due to sub arctic conditions and a garage with no electric for heating ;-)

I'll let you know how I get on if I am brave enough to try this weekend. I suspect I do have worn out parts as it's the drivers side and my car does not have aircon. I presume the previous owner always ran around with the window cracked a fraction (like I do). This would leave the glass less well supported and more prone to wear.
