Please post any interesting day trips/ride/drive outs you may have. I'm not talking popular tourist attractions- but interesting monuments, places, things that are off the beaten track...

Here are a couple to get us started...

As found in the 'WW2 machines' thread - Sound mirrors: http://www.ajg41.clara.co.uk/mirrors/

The village of Imber: http://worldofstuart.excellentcontent.com/imber/im...

Captain Cooks monument on Big Island Hawaii and take the hiking trail not the kayak option. Took 2 hours to get down and 3 hours back to walk back up and didn't see a single soul the whole day.
