Got a 2004 SL55 AMG and would like to know how to turn off the Traffic 'TP' mode. l'm waiting for the Dealer to supply a Comand manual but in the meantime want to turn off 'TP' as it keeps cutting in whilst listening to CD's.

Thanks biggrin

Not sure about COMAND, but on the Audio 50 on mine (and most other types I've come across), it's just a case of pressing (and holding) the volume mute button...

Certainly worth a try.

yes according to my manual (COMAND APS) that's the way to turn it off.

Cycle Si - I am new to this forum but a long owner of Mercedes - the TP command is switched on and off by holding down a button (I'd have to nip to the car to get the guide to tell you which one!). The Command system is, to my mind, quite complicated and I much prefer my C Class's computer. I can never seem to find the range on the Command and as the Command Merc I drive is a big gas guzzling merc I rarely fill it up and often I am on the yellow diesel light, which Germany tells me only contains 12 miles of diesel at that point!

Off topic but I've tested this out recently. When the yellow light comes on I've usually got a range of say 40 miles remaining, I've ran the car as low as I can until the range shows zero miles (can in the boot in case i run out) and the little petrol pump comes up in the display. I've then filled right to the neck of the tank and the most i've managed to get in is 65 Litres according to the pump.

Now the car is meant to have a 70 Litre tank (not sure if this is just tank capacity or neck and fuel lines also) which means even when allegedley completely empty suugest there's around 5 litres left.

Thats good to know because with the C class the range fluctuates enourmously from 3 miles of petrol left then up to 30 depending on sitting in traffic or actually driving. So what you have found out would make sense to me because I cannot believe a gas guzzler such as an ML would only leave you with a 12 mile radius of diesel once that yellow quarter tank light shows. But Merc Benz headquarters - 0800 too! (phonenumber in the command book)swore that to be the case. Also - I couldnt believe that two merc dealers (Stortford and Colchester) couldnt tell me what the snow button was used for or how to apply it - rediculous. Anyway Merc Benz HQ again tells me that you need about an inch of snow to use it. Also you need (unlike the newer Discos) to switch it on whilst still.
