Solutions In The US
Discussion
Don't know if anyone is interested, but here are some of the solutions to the dreaded "camera" that we have here in the US:

While the reflective covers, of course, will not fit, maybe the photo blocker spray may help.
Your cousins feel your pain...

I have a friend (who is an idiot
I admit - but then we all need one of those around) who ordered an item from them for his 911.
They use cameras to enforce tolls on certain roads here, and according to him, he has run several toll booths since November last year and has yet to receive a ticket.
I have no first hand knowledge as, in the Lotus, police pull out the radar when I am STANDING STILL at a red light (I exaggerate - but not much) so I tend to be on my best behavior - besides I like leaving people guessing
Color is Azure and thanks
cheers

I'm not so sure Hardcore - check out the UKspeedtraps website.( www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/).They tested two of these products, and one definitely seems to work (and one's complete shit!!)

consider the reflective properties of 3M reflective yellow backing: micro sized glass crystals in a plastic substrate, and adhesive.
Right. The crystals reflect light primarily at the angle of incidence - eg, AWAY from the flash. However, the crystals immediately NEXT to the ones reflecting, catch the light, and bounce it BACK to the light SOURCE.
This is how the bloody things look bright from ANY angle.
The only way you are going to stop light bounce, is by preventing it reaching the crystals in the first place.
The only way of doing this is;-
a) dirty plate
b) plate in boot of car
c) diffraction (polarising) grating in front of plate
d) plate recessed beyond primary flash zone
Got this so far?
A/B/D are illegal (wow, letters ABD? how symbolic!!
), and "C" is going to be seen by the naked eye = YOUR'RE NICKED SONNY !!!!
There is no way to win this way, except with dyslexic plates, or simply not speeding. Grrrrrrr. Or some more technology, eg, camera flashback. But someone said that don't work??
Face it, with enhancement they will stick it to you.
Sorry, just stating it as I see it.

Note that US plates are different, they are pressed metal, have reflective paint on the background and non reflective paint on the raised letters. If you could put reflecive dark paint on the raised letters, then I would guess is would look normal in most cases, but would reflect a flash back to the camera from the surround and the paint...
The only way I can think to do that with a UK plate is to build your own, and out reflective darker paint on the letters... this may reduce the contrast, but with image enhancement techniques, I wouldn't like to take the chance.
your best bet is the 007 revolving number plate thingy.
