Anybody had much to do with one of these, i had the car come to me today with no heat inside the cabin, i looked into it and disconnected the coolant hoses to the matrix, once these were disconnected i started the engine to see what sort of flow was going on and nothing, this makes me think its the water pump as it cant be producing any flow. I turned down the pressure on the jet wash and put it to the inlet on the matrix, when set to some heat inside the car it then works as it should, i have a hot pressure washer by the way!

I am 99% sure i have found the problem but would like to know from anybody else if this is a common possibility, i know on the vag stuff its common for the plastic propeller to fall off the rear of the pump causing these problems.

Any info will be greatly received, seems you cant get much aftermarket parts for these neither and i dread to think how much a water pump will cost!

I know it sounds a bit daft but is there enough water in the system. I have had a few older vw's and consequently ones with small leaks in the coolant system resulting in the heaters not working when low, just topped it up.
If the water pump wasnt working, a bit risky but take it for a short drive and see if the engine temp heats up. Same with the thermostat if its sticking would it not let flow through the rest of the system when hot,i.e through to the heater matrix.
Probably wrong!

The car drives fine and has no over heating issues, the bloke drove it to the isle of white over the christmas period, just no heat in the cab.

The first thing i checked was the water level, the heater work's when i put a hot stream of water through the matrix, the valve looks to be located inside the cab and you can feel it working as when on the air is warmer when set on hot than cold, abeit just luke warm.

Thanks for the replies, i will get on the phone and get it priced up, where are they situated?

Is it normal then for these to have very poor coolant flow if any at all?

Well i bit the bullet and paid Jaguar £130 for a new valve, as it is located quite a distance away from the matrix itself i do feel this will be the cure. Also the fact the parts guy said he had also sold 4 since last thursday.

Thanks all. Carl C.G.Cars Leicester
