Still a horrible world

Just heard a friend of a friend has killed himself because he was gay and suffering homophobic abuse. hung himself new years eve. was 19.

dont know the whole story of course, but it shocks me at he amount of prejudices that are still there still in 2009, whether they be homophobic, racist, sexist etc.

thanks guys but I dont know him personally. when my mate told me though tonight it did bring a tear to my eye, that rarely happens

i think as a culture lots are partly to blame. lots of us joke and laugh about these things but never think about the consequences. apparently he was abused and brushed it off and just didnt let it show but obviously hurt him.

just makes you think.

Tis a shame, although methinks that when people go for suicide around that age its more to growing pains than specific issues.

A friend of mine came out at around that age and his biggest drama was that hed been fretting over it for years and we werent at all bothered.

When I hear of fat kids hanging themselves due to school bullies etc.. I would wish that those bullies are publicly whipped.

Seems it is socially still OK to bully over being Gay/Lesbian (note that PH stamp all over racist remarks but largely ignore all the gay jibes?).

In fact the latest reaserch shows that Gay/Lesbian groups are now the target of more prejudice tham ethnic groups.
