Just been down to my local BMW porn shop to change my three year old 120d, as this car is on lease I will be looking to do the same for next 3 years, oh the joys... very very nice people at the porn shop told me to sort the state of the car out ie... wheels and the odd scratch or the wicked finance vixen would punish me financially.

Is there anybody out there who works for BMW who can tell me how bad the car has to be before I get charged and any good leasing offers for the above car?

Are you not saying they've told you already? Scuffed alloys and any bodywork scratches would definitely need to be sorted out (unless you want to pay double the cost to repair in penalties).

You've effectively rented a car for three years. They will want it back in tip top condition (as you would if it was the other way round)

Get the alloys refurbed (£50 each tops) and get the bodywork sorted (probably £50 - £100 a panel)

Hi pgilc1
The problem with BMW no one will give me definitive answer about the state of the car, even though its only done 18k on a 30k contract … do they expect the car to come back in show room condition ?
The 10k under contract gets a full valet every 3 weeks, just seem to think there after every £ they can get. Plus they require a full service before return!

Yup they are getting it VERY tight at the moment. They will therefore push back on anything they can. Personally, scuffed alloys and any parking dings / scratches / scuffs should be sorted.

I could be wrong on this but its my understanding of how it works.

Also, when you do leave it back, take plenty of photos.

handed back a 120d on "select" 3yr pcp, car had 4 door dings, one v light bumper scuff that would polish out and 2 alloys with light kerbs on approx 1-2 inches per wheel, gave it back, within mileage, no claim was made to me for refurb, this was Nov '08...

The problem is with the credit crunch, it is getting harder for the dealers to offload the returned PCP cars and therefore they will want them as perfect as possible so the dealers are not loosing out.
