As per title, my PS3 has stopped reading game disks. It's still within warranty so I can get a replacement, but I've sadly lost the receipt in a house move. Is there likely to be any chance I can take it back to the retailer with the card I paid for it with? I distinctly remember this working at a PC World before now, does anyone know if GameStation do the same?

I really don't want to have to wait for Sony to send one out. I've got a free weekend and 3 PS3 games to play.

Same happened to me, rang up sony and within a few days had a replacement as you swap your old one with the courier at the door.

EDIT: Just saw about the weekend, not too sure about that.

Spoke to Gamestation (the place I bought it from), if I take in my bank statement from the time I bought it they'll swap my knackered old 40Gig model with Sixxaxis controller for a brand new 80Gb model with a DS3.

fking result!

Same thing happened to mine, phoned customer support and got a new one (or reconditioned, not sure) the next day!

Aye I had a couple of PS2's die with the same problem, Sony sorted them next day. Only reason I've gone to the retailer in this situation is impatience smile I have nothing to do for the rest of the weekend, and World at War, Fallout 3 and LBP in my "to play" pile.

I was just glad Wipeout HD still worked, would have gone insane last night wihtout it :|
