Which spark plugs are correct for an 04 CV8? A set of AC Delco 41-985 Iridium plugs has come into my possesion & I'm wondering if they'll fit?
Have tried looking in the FAQ's but the online Monaro Owners Manual is no longer available there

Measuring these & they're 14mm (dia on the crest of the threads), tapered seat,26mm length from top of tapered seat to the anvil, 77mm overall length from cap to anvil. Might just give Roger a ring at Monkfish.

Thanks for that ringram.

PAul just changed mine to these, fairly easy job but you might need the help of a female set of hands to help locate some of the plugs on the way back in!

Thanks stig - I'll give them to Roger for him to fit when the car is serviced there in Apr! I was quite amazed to find out these plugs also fit a variety of quad bikes too - that's where they came from...some guys here have high performance quad bikes - 450, 650 & 900cc 4 stroke twins capable of 120+ mph over very rough ground. Between them they ordered several sets in & 8 arrived more than they ordered. That'll do nicely thank you very much. I believe they're quite expensive in UK - maybe 12 - 15 quid each?

yep, which is why there is no point buying them when the copper ones are £14 a set!

Oww - didn't realise the gap was that big...still, they're free so I'll use 'em anyway! D'you know roughly how long they last?

Iridiums are supposed to be like 100,000 miles I "think" because they are defined as emissions related equipment.
So like cats etc are supposed to last that long by design.

But I might have made that up smile

Copper's obviously last less time. Ive heard 30,000 but you probably want to check more frequently than that.

Also heard that platinum tips have fallen off before which doesnt help engines with some plugs. That was probably a problem with old plugs.

Currently Im just running the stock plugs though myself, which I think will be iridium tips.

Just looked on the box again &, in my very limited French, it says something along the lines of '100,000 mile limited warranty against defects in design, materials & workmanship'

Thanks again ringram - much appreciated.

it depends on engine though, I'd say at the price change every 20k miles which for me is 4 years anyway. Do the job yourself it is easy unless you are having more work done, the gap from memory is 1.3mm.

too right, 30 quid for a set of 8 plugs will do me just fine. Will post up the results of the old plugs I pulled out, I certainly wouldnt suggest running them to the number of miles they suggest!

I understand stig but, as they're free, I'll still fit 'em & see how they go.
