would you send your passport in the post??

I am being told to do this by the DVLA, who currently also have my driving license!

How is them seeing my passport going to prove it was me that sent it to them? I thought the purpose of photo ID was to check the photo against the person!

What has happened is that i am being persecuted for 46 in a 40 and then found out i needed to replace my photocard as i have lost it Now the DVLa are delaying my new license i imagine my persecution will be worse but can i just get my passport 'seen' by someone local rather than send it off?

It is not the post man i am especially worried about. I will have NO picture ID if they have it all!

Will they accept a certified copy of it? If so find yourself a solicitor and get it certified.

I am going to have to phone them but i can't get through to the DVLA, assume they are closed though. And i know the office of motorist persecution is closed so i can't speak to them today.

I guess i will wait til monday. According to the letter i have been sent, the only option is to send my passport..

I will try on monday. It is annoying that i went into a post office with all the stuff including my passport and was told they would not check it all as i just had to send the forms off.

I always send this kind of thing insured for 1,500 quid. That way if it goes missing t least I'm handsomely compensated for the loss.

You're not alone. Most drivers feel they are being persecuted. It's only the ones who get nicked that get prosecuted.

Just spoke to them. It has to be sent in by post, and can not be checked at a DVLA office!!!
