Hi all, just a quick question... is it possible to fit an external wastegate on a standard turbo with an internal wastegate? TIA

I guess, if you wanted to, you could jam the internal wastegate and use an external gate.. but why would you want to?

External wastegates mount directly onto the manifold, so you will need a different one, also they tend to be much bigger than internal ones and with a small turbo you could end up with problems getting enough boost from the turbo.

You can still have a screamer pipe with an internal wastegate in most cases. It's just a case of modifying the turbo elbow so that exhaust gas from the wastegate is not joined back into the elbow.

In this picture you can see the individual channels for wastegate and main flow, so it's pretty obvious from here once you find a good welder.
