Hello all,

Looking for a bit of advice as I've never had windscreen washers fail before. As per the thread post my windscreen jets suddenly stopped working on the the 5 hour drive home in the ice leading to a very long drive and some scary moments (despite stopping as much as possible!). It did stop working one day prior but it started up again after a spell...

Initially I thought that perhaps the water inside the piping has simply frozen and was blocking it but it's still not working so any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've removed the tubing to the wiper blade and tried to wash but nothing comes out so the block is further down. I've checked the fluid level (obviously) and it's fine. The motor is making a whirring sound as per the norm.

My next step is to try and trace the piping to see if there is ice blocking it (still very cold here) and to check the fuses but I've run out of time today and both seem unlikely and the piping is a bit of bugger to follow...

Any suggestions/common failures that would help?

Thanks in advance,

G

Pour some nearly boiling water and screenwash mixture into the bottle.

Heat will travel through the existing water in the pump and pipe and melt any ice or slush in the pipe. Lift the wiper blade off the screen and pulse the washers every 30 seconds or so.

If it's ice and not a blockage that should do the trick. If you have an airline or footpump try a couple of blasts down the nozzle the flexible screenwash pipe fits onto as well.

Thanks for that mate. It worked. Turns out I was just being an absolute mong and it was still just frozen as I'd not used the right concentration of anti-freeze... banghead

How embarassing for me... Thanks again though mate!
