Have you ever had promises from your other half or any one which never happens? Just wanted to know as I have heard this so many times I just need to know.

Yeah like those are kind of acceptable - but what if someone promises to be there when they are in hospital or when they promise their child they will play with them or thier wife to get a pressie or when thier freinds need help, or when thier family needs help? which is more important??

Broken promises are usually a sign of being taken for granted.

Then they are people who cannot be relied upon. It's difficult, but you have two choices:

1. Accept that they cannot be relied upon and never believe them (nor attempt to rely upon them, that's the hard part)
2. Get them out of your life so they cannot let you down again.

Everyone makes promises, and everyone breaks them at some point or other...it's human nature.

If you nag them a lot, then don't be surprised.

nagging is asking them to do something more than once during a calendar month.

Not everyone. I don't make promises I know I won't keep. It's about people promising stuff without thinking properly.

Indeed. If they do so, are they really worthy of knowing, or attempting to rely upon? In my view the answer is no.

Well, you will learn over time which of your friends can be relied on, whether they say, "I promise" or not, I guess.
