After deciding it is stupid to get shot of the Ro due to limited use ive decided its about time I got a decent small 2nd car and stopped wasting money on other things. Have about 11k to spend so any suggestions..? Need something quick and sure footed so I can blast about to work etc without worrying, something like an R32 springs to mind since its 4wd so no wheel spinning etc ala FWD!

Its difficult to choose a second car. I had a Vectra SRi (hire car while Ro was in for repairs)which is considered a "nice" car. A lot of families have them as their main car but i just found it so dangerously slow. I mean there was nothing there. Its the same for friends cars i.e Saxo's 106's etc. They are just so boring. I suppose that's the problem with being spoilt. Its a difficult one

a. Because with the performance I have I would lose my licence!
b. I hate any dents on the Ro and would go mad if some idiot dented it in the car park.
c. Its a physically big car and a pain to find decent parking spaces for.
d. I want to keep it immaculate for the time I have it as its just a toy for weekend playing and trips to europe.

We had a Civic Type R and loved it. I also keep my Stang garaged as a toy. The Civic isn't very practical if you;'ve got little kids though as it's hard getting in the back. For that reason we now have a Mazda 5.

How about an 80's 911?

Don't laugh but they tick a lot of boxes, cheap to insure and run, zero depreciation, reliable with enough space for work gear (and sometimes the family), RWD and "interesting" to drive.

Yes dangerous. I picked it up from Enterprise and drove home. The first roundabout i got to i joined as i would normally do in the Monaro. NOTHING absolutely nothing, other than a car approaching me from the right aiming straight for the side of the car. That was when i realised i was going to have to adjust my driving to suit a "normal" car:yike: I'd rather not have to do it again.

The 3.0 CDTi has 4/5ths of a Monaro's torque so quite a good 'everyday' car. Much better than the petrol ones I have driven.

How can it be dangerous if it's a normal car?

Ok i guess i should have worded differently. I'll try again.
Basically if Roger wanted a second car he may have to adjust his driving. If he doesn't he may find himself in a spot of bother as i did. I personally found a "normal" car dangerously slow. Hope that helps
