Has anyone else seen this?
I've just seen it twice whilst watching wheeler dealers on Sky.
Just made me smile that they have got all the 80's touches such as Wimpey and Our price aswell as peoples clothing spot on, in case your wondering the advert is celebrating 25 years of them operating.

A quick Google shows the first brick handset as being 1973, but I don't think it was commercially available, as there wasn't a network until 1978.
I don't think we had a proper network here until 1985?

In the mid eighties, most portables were handsets attached to a briefcase with the transceiver, I remember walking around the Earls Court Caravan show with one in 1988 and being very envious of one or two folks who had the very first 'bricks'

that and paying line rental with no inclusive minutes and having to pay for incoming calls
