How to clean burnt on stuff from oven...?

OK. The oven is manky. SWMBO hasn't got the muscle to shift it. No matter how much oven cleaner, soaking, scrubbing etc just won't get rid of the burned on stuff. Anyone know what's the proper stuff for cleaning...?

Pretty sure that when I was a lowly student and working at Pizza Hut, we used to clean the oven rolling chain mats by dipping them in strong caustic soda solution. Leave them in overnight and they came out sparkling.

OK. No more domestic cleaning threads. Promise.

Don't bother, get one of those oven cleaning franchises to come and do it for about £30. We're just about to get ours done.

Cant put my finger on what the result was.

The missus used something the other month to clean the oven out but I really cant remember what. I would look at something quite industrial though :P

I'll order up some of this Oven Pride and see how it goes. Failing that the liquid alkali stuff and failign that then Barry Scott's best plus petrol...

Thinking outside the box (literally) if it's really manked up inside you could take each side panel off, leaving just a cube of black crud, then rebuild the oven...

Sadly it's not one that disassembles too well (basic Siemens model). Already looked into this in order to lurp it all in the dishwasher. Short of somehow jacking up the dishwasher, taking the door off and coupling it to the front of the oven it was a no-go.

OK, well, building on your idea, have you noticed how driving fast through a heavy rainstorm gets dirty alloys wheels really clean? You can see where this is going...

You'd need three other ovens to balance the car up of course, but that means you could take in work and make money

Sometimes screen resolution can be too great. I misread that initially! Mr Muscle product works for me too.

I found out the hard way that you should wear gloves when using oven cleaner. I finished, then realised I had rubbed off the ends of my fingers and they were pissing blood everywhere. It's a good look when you have someone coming round.

My mum used one (cost £45) and her oven looked as good as new...she was thrilled with it

I used this stuff on our oven yesterday and left it overnight...great results!

Hrm, plenty of snow here. I could head for the local McDonalds and pull a few burnouts on the car park. Job done, rispek from yoofs AND money in the bank. Nice.
