Apparantly there are nowhere near enough Stonemasons in the country. I'm not sure where she could study this to, as that's the problem I had.
I found this when trying to find a contractor to do repair work to a historic site. Most stone masons are already set up on jobs like Churches/National Trust places and are booked for 18-24 months!!! I think although don't know for certain, that stone masonry is still done by becoming an apprentice, most large churches, certainly, Lincoln and York, have stone masons attached, or nearby.
I don't see any reason why a girl couldn't do the job, especially the carving work which is mainly done inside in a workshop.
