Totally agree. These sort of threads will keep springing up in other areas. Then you move them to the P&P and then the thread starter can't post on them. There have been three or four today!

We are trying to encourage new members to actually post about cars for a short while, rather than just diving straight into a flame war in the P&P.

Personally, I think an introductory post along the lines of: 'Hi, I'm Will. I've just found the site and it looks great. I've just become a dad so I'm driving around in an old shed of a Citroen at the moment, but I hope to be back in something faster in a few months' would be fine in either General Gassing or Readers Cars.

The question is how do we encourage the sort of post we are after?

A - lock them out of GG too

B - suggest it in their welcome email?

It might be worth pointing out that any OT threads that would be moved to the P&P will simply be locked. Focus their minds a tad

Could they not also be encouraged / required by default to complete their own current cars and history or at least their fantasy garage so some idea of their motoring desires /realities can be seen ?

Just a thought.............. too many members do not have anything car related showing on their page.
