Is anybody else watching this?

I find it hard to believe that somebody could make a fake piece of artwork like that and fetch 440,000 quid for it

pretty sad really. Is it a true story?

sent them straight to british museum, who showed them to Bonhams who then alerted the police. As usual they got greedy and this led to thier downfall But what a talent for art!

...they tried to sell some Syrian tablets to Brit Museum who became suspicious....antiques fraud squad sent round....found two other replicas of the one they sold for £440K....done deal....should have been happy with the £440K and enjoyed there ill gotten gains..... interesting programme.

great program and really well acted - the old bloke was great.

i think it was great how he let the 'experts' draw themselves into the con, it was they who told him what it was worth and did all the running around.

whats the betting that women at the museum still has her job?

They were forging for 17 years before being found out - astounding.

Thanks for the info! This programme really was good enough to be on primetime BBC1 rather than hidden away on BBC2.

It was interesting and as the documentary maker said - it was a shame that the guy's talent hadn't been spotted earlier and nurtured properly. He could have gone far I'm sure (legitimately!)

No not the Antiques Road Show, the Antiques ROUGUE Show. It was on BBC2 later in the evening.

But surely that is like being outed as a damn good cat burglar. one day you get greedy and get caught. But if you're good you can keep on at it afterwards.

I would like to point out that I am not encouraging said behaviour.
