Does anyone know what the regulations are for the placement of the required vent ? (10cm2)
I have bought a flueless fire, but since ordering it we have decided it is actually going to be put on an external wall (I know - we should have got an balanced flue - but hey ho).
Q is can you put the vent into a conservatory or does it have to go outside ( or could you vent it behind the fire ?).

I think they're a heck of a lot bigger than 10cm2 - more like 100cm2. As far as I can recall having had one in my son's flat, you might be able to vent to another room but it, in its turn, must have an outside vent and both must be uncloseable. You also have to have an openable window in the room the fire is in. t have you?Keep thinking of swapping it for a balanced flue one before we fit the thing anyway.

Its a radium (superior fires = focal point) . Looks nice. Wife not happy that with massive vent in the wall, if its not switched on it will be colder than before we started ! Pity you cannot get a balanced flue version...
I have one, it's been here for about 7 years now and works fine. The vent is about 15 feet away from the fire, high up on an external wall. The drill bit was massive 
There isn't really anything of a breeze from the vent, at least none that I've noticed, and I just view it as a means of keeping circulation going within the house, which is always a good thing.
I have wondered if the catalytic converter needs checking, but I've tested for carbon monoxide and found nothing, and there are no odd smells from it.
As for placement, I stuck it in the chimney breast replacing the existing gas fire. Its boxed in with cement.

Engineer comes on friday, so will have to decide where to stick it soon.....
