The Chinese authorities have launched a fresh campaign to get rid of unhealthy, vulgar and pornographic content on the internet.
Overlooking the fact that this seems to be aimed at Chinese sites, how can one country (apart from the peace loving People's republic) possibly police the internet like this?

The other thing is the story that I heard about the (UK) Government wanting all websites to have age ratings. Really? All of them? Who would police this - how - are they really that mad as to even try to work out how this could work and at whose cost - surely there are more important ways of wasting our money (bank bailout anyone?)?

All they can do is block content from outside China, and suppress content from within. It's technically and physically achieveable. It is also technically possible to work around such problems by using unblocked anonymous proxies in other countries - there are organisations dedicated to providing them.
