If you want to do it, then do it!
I went from a Griff 500 (owned from new for 3 years) to a new Tuscan S, and although I'll always miss that V8 burble, the Tuscan is an awesome car, and I have no regrets at all.
Try one, and go into it with your eyes open, but they're not as unreliable as some people make out so don't let that put you off.

Do you fit a Tuscan? I had my first sit in one at the weekend and I don't.
Then again I am a more "ample" build...![]()
Phil
How big are you?
I am 6ft and not thin at all and have no problem
I had a griff loved it,the tuscan is a different beast.IMHO it is a more complete car all the annoying details seem to be sorted.
If you have the money go for it just buy the latest car possible and enjoy
ok. i'm not going to enter 'that' debate.
here we go......
i'm in no position to buy such a lovely car, but i don't know if i would, because confidence in the engine seems to be lacking.
i don't mean my confidence, but as someone pointed out, tuscan prices drop, griff prices firm up and IMO this is due to folks buying the 'top of the tree' Rover rather than take a *perceived* risk on the AJP.
there are an increased number of tvr specific bits, which means regular stuff will cost more - but you already know about that because you've looked into this quite thoroughly, i would have thought?.......
servicing costs are substatially diferent.
you'll have to make up your own mind about that. sorry.
i would just ask myself the question "can i afford it IF it goes wrong"
if the answer is 'yes' then for me things would be pretty straightforward.

Ah, the old "Rover V8 vs Speed 6" debate again!
Griff prices are good at the moment because they reflect the "classic" status that they are gradually accumulating.
Avoiding early Tuscans is good advice. The newer the S6 engine, the better it will be, and if you want a Tuscan try to go for the S, whose engines have stronger internals to cope with the power hike. (I understand the RR conversion includes conrods, valve stem etc. changes to beef up the strength).
A Tuscan S will certainly give you a velocity increase over the Griff! The power delivery is much more user friendly, and the interiors are stunning. It also has a boot
In short, go and have a good long test drive in a Tuscan, and if you get that feeling, be it yes or no, then you MUST act on that feeling!
Oh, and sell the Griff privately - loadsamoney!!

That is what I am looking to do get a 2000 or 2001 Tuscan as that is what I can afford at the moment.
If I could afford a Tuscan S then sure I would look at one but as the Tuscan would be like my Griff, a car garaged all week and used at the weekends then I would not be prepared to spend 40K+ on one.
I am looking to buy private but would then want to get a Warranty on the engine.
Is this possible and if so who does the warranties?
Cheers
Mathew

Not a WINDOWCLEANER by any chance?
No Carpenter And I do really own a Tuscan.
The debate over how good or bad the sp6 is will run for years. But with 2000+ units built how many have really broken?
IMHO Tuscan prices have fallen because of three reasons.
1 People falling in love with the looks/performance of the car not really knowing what it is they were buying when they should have bought porsches, then selling 12 months later
2 probably for the same reason as above people crashing there new Tuscans forcing insurance up
3 T350
I think tuscans will bottom out soon.Service costs are dearer but not conciderably, bear in mind you are running a newer car less will be worn out.I spent more on my griff than i do on my tuscan
If you can find a late one privately you may still have the factory waranty
Go for a long test drive and decide
