Well this is the thing,
Im currently only 17
With 0 years no claims. (Not that i have crashed...)

However im on my fathers traders insurance which allows up to a 1.4.. so im not sure if they count the turbo etc lol

I very much doubt your fathers trade insurance will cover you on a Turbo.

As for your own insurance on a Starlet it'll probably cost you as much as the car, if not more.

See if you can find a decent Charade GTti. These were UK delivered and only group 11, so insurance may be more doable for you on your own.

I somewhat doubt your father's trade policy has in writing "Any car upto 1400cc... expect ones with turbos".

I believe this is one of those lovely things called a Loopwhole.

Read his policy to double check, but I think you're in the clear.

You're also a lucky bd for getting trade insurance at 17!

You would be surprised.

I'm good mates with a guy at the garage I use for all my cars, he's 20 and his insurance is sorted through his fathers company policy, he's allowed anything up to 2000cc, but no turbos or imports. As such he built himself a Civic VTi with a B20/B16 hybrid engine.

Yeahh i am lucky lol.
Atm i got a punto sporting, which as it stands would cost me £4000 to insure on my own...
But its not reliable and i'd like something with a bit more power, preferably a turbo! And as i saw these glanza's were 1300cc i thought i might stand a chance of insuring it...

My wife used a company called Acadamy as the prices were all over and these were best. She has 4 years NCB driving 5 years age 36, and no alarm on the car. Fully comp £300, and that is the same as my E46 M3 so they are not particulary cheap.

You would be very hard pushed to get a decent one now.

This is true, they are very few and far between(100 or so left on the road according to DVLA out of 700 originally sold) and you will pay top dollar for a decent one. I sold mine last April for £3k.
