Venture cam issues

I have just bought a RR and love it !!!

The problem is the venture cam...I can't get it to work.

I have followed the booklet but it says either the camera is not charged or out of range (which it is neither)

The camera unit seems to work (the torch works) can anyone help before I start whinging to the garage I bought it from ?
