Hi all, this is my first message but I read you for much time.I'm Diego, from Italy. Ultima Gtr is my dream car and I MUST to have her.I see this for several months: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/446918.htm .Seems a good car.Do you know its story? What do you think? Doesn't worth going to see (and to buy) this car? Thanks in advance for your attention and advice,and scuse me for my bad english. Regards. I can't find the original post now and have tried the search but I believe that it was damaged and repaired/resprayed but in Ireland not the UK and not the Ultima factory. May be a good repair and can't find the previous comments - maybe someone with better search skills can help.
From the photos it looks tidy (but should be if rebuilt!) - how about you make an offer of £20k and then I come in and offer £22k for a quick sale

20k are you serious, that car was up for 40k a few months ago. If you offered me that it would be a very short conversation. Hence the ....humour was obviously lost in translation. It's still for sale which says a lot about the car & price. I had to break a previous car as it was worth more in parts but it is a long and difficult process and not something that a trader would contemplate.
In this environment profitability is very much secondary to cash flow. Lots of items being sold at a loss to ensure that financing can be met.

Been for sale a very long time and lots of comment suggesting the price was below £30k over 5 months since......the world has moved on fundamentally since then. Maybe a cheeky offer is in order

I understand the desire to retain the investment value, but what other £40k car could you have got that would be worth more than 50% of its cost nearly 7 years later?
On the plus side at least there is a ready market for ALL the parts if you did decide to break the car to get more money.... in fact in the current climate that may well be more luctrative... Business opertunity?

great, lets drive the prices down. I hope i dont have to sell in the near future but if things dont improve it could be a possibility (again) but i will fight it. Hopefully good spec cars will still make honest money.

I thought I had built a good example,all the right parts , all from the factory etc costing the thick end of 60k then at 5 months old put it on for 48k and all I got were silly questions and offers from people who coudn't be bothered to come and have a look. On the upside have done a couple of stonking trackdays recently so I will keep the car for a while.

I put mine up for sale for five days and had some good offers around 23K (mine was up for 25.5) but to be frank I just changed my mind and retracted the sale.
I do think the yellow one is overpriced though, it's been for sale for almost a year so make an offer!
Regarding the lack of AP's on the back, I had a set for sale that would have bolted straight on (twin piston AP's), were for sale in the classifieds for £200 along with a set of Brembos that doubled as handbrake calipers gone now though (although.....'GTWayne' when you picking them up???).

The car has a complete body change due to an accident and having not being repaired here or at the factory throws up some doubt about the car, and as mentioned before £20 + would be a fair price, not long ago there was a red GTR that went for £20 undamaged, it all depends what your car is worth and how much you are prepared to take for it, personally I wouldn't buy any car that has had accident damage.
It doesn't matter how much money you throw at it, the thing is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay.

Exactly - the basic laws of market value. Now if a red GTR went for £20k then a red Can-Am has got to worth even less. I could have advertised it for months at the money i wanted and never found a buyer...but its a buyers market and if you want to sell your car im afraid there are not a lot of serious buyers out there and if someone is keen to buy it you will get a lower offer. If houses are going down 30-35% are cars as well???
1 year old Aston V8 vantages are 45k(82k new)
4 year year old merc SL600 with 35000 miles went from 100k new to 16k
Does that meen Ultimas are now half price after a year??? or a 6th of the price after 4 years??

Orginaly price of the yellow car was 32k 1 year ago. Isi it only a years its been for sale as advert says''In fact its an Ultima GTR of similar spec to this one that holds the world speed record (0 to 100mph and back to zero again). I thought the current record was a 720hp ultima not a 400HP one... The 400HP record is about 3 years out of date??
Anyway...30%off is £22k, 50%off is £16...Frankly he will only take a silly offer if you have the guts to phone him and offer him the money...otherwise its all stuck here in the forum.
If you are interested ring him...telling the reasons and ask if he is prepared to take a lower offer. If he is then you will come and look at it..But get the car checked as well if it has had an accident..(incidently what happened to the Ferrari badged red damaged car for sale???did it sell??

True, if it's not an Ultima, but as long as it is repaired by the factory, it isn't a problem. Because the Ultima has a separate chassis, this is easily repaired to as good as new, using the original jigs, and bodywork is easily replaced. I challenge anyone to find evidence of repair on my car, repaired by the factory after my £30,000 "incident" last year. In fact the car is better than it was, because the new rear clip fits better than the old one did, and 8 years of stone chips have disappeared!
