Me...I'm still looking to take a really good Red Kite in flight shot. Every time I set foot out the door without a camera, they're everywhwere; you know the rest.

I'd like to get a really good shot, with lots of details and all the colours of M42 - the Orion Nebula. Could be difficult as it disappears from our skies during the summer months.

I would like to take a shot good enough to be made into a canvas to go on my wall. Failing that just one good enough to post in this forum!

Very much with you on that goal! As for one good enough to post on this forum.... well, they don't have to be masterpieces!

I achieved a couple of goals last week actually while I was off work: i) a 'macro' type shot of a match igniting and ii) white smoke on black background of smoke trails from expired matches.

I'm a total amature and I like the geeky side of photography, so a lot of what I do at the moment is trying to re-create images or effects I've seen used by others. Therefore my things to do in 2009 are techniques to try rather than subjects I want to photograph.

  1. Decent HDR photo of something. (Not everyone's cup of tea I know, but there are some impressive images out there and I'd like to have a go myself.)
  2. Off camera/multiple flash shots of my car at sunset. (Flashes used for fill in.)
  3. Moving car photos where the camera is attached to the car. (Using a camera mounted on sucker either on the body or window and a remote shutter release for a >1sec exposure.)
  4. Waterfal/stream/waves/clouds using >1sec exposure and an a flat ND filter so as not to over expose, thereby creating the 'soft' look to the moving fluid.
I expect I'll become a bit more creative once I've mastered some more techniques, so at the moment I'm content in aping techniques!

Getting more time to actually take pictures would be a great start. e.g. Myself and TonyH(Veyron passenger extraordanaire) have been talking for about a year to go out and shoot both our cars... Never happened yet.

Failing that a nice scenic image with my Landrover in it - It was planned to be in New Zealand this year but that's been pushed back to 2010 so I fear it may be in the remoteness of Scotland or in the wilderness of Norway somewhere.

yes

I want to take a brilliant picture of a C5R or C6R Corvette doing something extraordinary as I need a good pic for the from cover of the book I am writing on the subject.

I'm after a pin sharp image of a car backfiring.

Thankfully I go to a lot of motorsport so there's a good chance i'll get one!

To capture some Sea Eagles on Mull, hopefully. That's the aim for our honeymoon there next month anyway! Well, that and other things, of course!

Also to catch some Kestrel and other raptor shots of the birds near our new house in the country.

Mainly to get the camera out more often than the last 6 months of 2008.

The 5 year old Mull Sea Eagle roosts here often (blue tag), so if you are up this way, let me know and I'll show you the exact tree you should look (You'll need a 400mm or a boat mind)
