http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-FOCUS-RS-T230-GMD-LTD-E...

Just wondering if anyone here knows a bit more about these motors, was browsing for an ST170 when I came across this. Can't find much info on them from the web but it seems GMD Motorsport had a very brief partnership with Ford and produced a limited run of Focii before the RS was introduced in 2002.

Seems to be extremely rare apparently only 8 were made in T230 spec, other models included a T190 and apparently a T250?

Just wondering if anyone knows any more about these and could maybe shed some light on the spec and history? That one in the advert seems to have been barried a bit but could be put back to 'standard' for little money and you'd then have a rare sleeper that would certainly surprise a few people?

Any thoughts?

Would hope not, it is utterly st though isn't it. If I were to buy the car one of the first things to go would be the steering wheel - Standard focus airbag one would replace it and same for the gash lexus lights.

The bonnet vent is, however standard it seems. Shame as it looks cack.

GMD was or is a division of Mountune so these were ford approved conversions. A mate had a T190 version for a while before swapping it for a throttle bodied zetec. Very good conversion on the 190 I believe they came in 250 spec as well. The reservations about that car I have are the colour, the fact the unique front bumper is missing from the pic and he doesn't mention the GMD build number, ask the guy for the engine number and contact mountune to check its authenticity if you are serious.

Can't say I'm seriously thinking about it as if it's the real deal and as rare as you say I'd imagine it's way out of my budget. I was slightly suspicious of the car due to the modifications anyway, to me it just doesn't look 'right'.

Thanks for the link anyway much appreciated smile

seems it doesnt have the normal wheels, rear lights, or front bumper.
some look much better than others. would be very nice if it looked a bit more like the st170 but with leather recaros and the 230 engine.

google it for a bit of info.

Hi

The T - Series cars where actually offered as "factory Fitted Options" as all the cars are registered as 2.0L. Depending on where you ordered the car depended on where the car went to be tuned. GMD, Mountune and 1 other where put in charge of building them.

I myself would love a T230-R which was a full on rally version with rollcage big brakes and proper suspension.
