My girlfriend sent me this link from one of the Disney forums she frequents and thought i'd share with you all:

I for one think these people are nuts -

I will not let my kids touch any staircase hand rails, escalator hand rails.
I let my kids use the bathrooms, they are little and have to. But I take antibacterial wipes for their hands, I will also confess to using clorox wipes to clean the toilet seat and then still putting the paper down before they sit!
In the hotel:
This is where I get germophobic. I will not let anyone sit, or lay on the bedspreads, ever! As soon as I get in the room I take them off. I have heard they hardley ever get washed and it just sceeves me out!LOL I wipe down the door handles and phone and remote with clorox wipes. I clean the toilet seat and I always check the place for bedbugs. No one is allowed to walk barefoot on the carpet or sit on it. I also spray the place with lysol and antibacterial fabreeze for the couch. We are DVC'ers so we are usually in a 1 bedroom with a full kitchen. I will not use any of the utensils or plates, cups, even if DH cleans them. No way! I bring paper plates, and plastic cups and utensils."
I bet they're a barrel of laughs..

the stupid thing is, she's actually harming her kids by doing that amount of obsessive compulsive crap...
if *every* surface is disinfected, the kids won't be exposed to bacteria and thus their immune systems won't be able to cope as well as someone who has had the occasional exposure to it.
if she has OCD (which is what it sounds like) then fair enough, but don't make the kids life a misery by exposing them to it's traits too...

I agree. weird thing is this behaviour seems like the rule rather than the exeption - thier thread goes on like this for 10 pages... if *every* surface is disinfected, the kids won't be exposed to bacteria and thus their immune systems won't be able to cope as well as someone who has had the occasional exposure to it.

but if she does have OCD, surely she cant help but expose the kids to her traits, isnt that the O part? if she could 'switch it off' surely it wouldnt be OCD? Fair enough - would germophobe be a more accurate term? Tho this lady must stongly believe that she will suffer from a medical ailment if she doesn't do all this stuffI believe?

the phone, shower head, TV remote and kitchen utensils get themselves in to all sorts of sticky situations.I can understand the bedspread thing, as errrr they can see some errrr action beyond the normal call of duty. But the rest is ridiculous.
But in my experience Disney is obsessive about cleanliness because many Americans seem ridiculous in their refusal to touch anything that anybody else has touched. Yet they will happily eat in restaurants where the kitchen cleanliness can be skankier than a very skanky thing.
Maybe this thing is like the dumb-clever balance. We should all consider it our mission to have an extremely vigorous and all encompassing shag without removing the bedspread in every hotel we stay at. Thus it offsets oddballs like this woman.
