According to the article, they were between 11kg and 32kg overweight and all efforts for them to lose weight failed, so they were suspended from flying 3 years ago and given ground duties.
They have since been told there are no vacancies in ground jobs and since they were unable to lose weight, their service had been terminated.
I love the lines -

A few years ago, during a recruitment drive for new crew, the airline said that it would not consider applicants with acne or bad teeth.
Are they going to set a precedent for other Airlines to follow, and perhaps in the future ask Fatties to pay more for their seat[s] than us normal folk?
Well I dunno about you but I'm all for a bit of discrimination against ugly people in certain trades. Who wants to see a fatty wobbling up and down the aisle, sweating on your Bloody Mary?
Uglyism must be widespread in womens' clothes shops and department stores. You just don't see mingers working in Selfridges do you? Do you think the application form needs a photo?

The theory is that if somebody is equally able to do the job at hand then, regardless of race/religion/sex/age etc. etc. then they should have equal chance of getting the job.
Now don't get me wrong, I think they should employ who they like and they do it very well, but it's always occured to me that having such a specific demographic of employee would lead to such discrimination issues?
