What are the PH opinions on this issue? How will this affect the U.K. in particular, if at all?

This info seems a little false.

They have cut the line to the Ukraine but not to Europe, there is still a free flowing supply to Europe, just blocked to Ukraine.

The issue is that if Ukraine get desperately short, they could theoretically limit what flows OUT of their country to us.

I thought the Ukraine was a staging post for Russian Gas to be sent on to other European countries (Romania perhaps?) and this suppl y was threatened by the russians cutting Ukraines supply.

In other words, you mean they may steal it?

All gas that russian provides to Europe flows through Ukraine, I was under the impression that this pipe that runs through Ukraine has an outlet to the Ukraine which has beenshut down.

Exactly, another case of media scare mongering and for what?

I think we need to invade the Ukraine. Russia doesn't like them so we might be able to get away with it on the 'any enemy of my enemy is my friend' basis.

Failing that, we can burn environmentalists to keep warm...

I'm up for a bit of "invading" of the local Ukranian ladies.

I'm sure more will join the cause.

Russia has dropped supply by 5% in an attempt to stop Ukraine helping themselves to the European supply after theirs was cut off for not paying some $2 billion.

Not sure how this works but helpfully Bruxelles has just announced on local radio that we are not to worry, the EU has enough saved.

I wonder if they'll do it the way Nigerians steal gasoline from pipelines: smash a huge hole in it and stand around in a puddle of petrol filling the jerry cans and smoking ciggies.

Works okay, for a while anyway.

If its only at lunchtime then they should be all right. I'm sure they could work around it for the time being.

Oh no they won't. The French have something like 5 months of gas in storage. We have 6 whole days.

You can put this one down to Labour again I'm afraid. They stopped more gas storage facilities being built several years ago.
