I've seen a few 'car bra's and I was wondering if anyone on here has got one. I've had a price quoted of circa £400. It looks a bit pricey but as the front bumper gets more abuse from chippings than any other part of the car I was thinking of getting the full kit which includes front bumper, small bottom section of bumper and wing mirrors. Where I live in a semi rural area, the bd council insist on dumping chippings down rather than re-surfacing! I only ask because I wanted to see everyone's opinion on whether it's worth it.

Thanx in advance for replies.

Hi Witchbreed

We have a gallardo that we had filmed on the first day and dont regret it one bit. Tom from Paintshield used our car to create the necessary mapping for future cars. Without the protection it would need a front end respray by now. Fully recommend them as a company and I know other phers have used them too (not sure where the posts are). I also heard about one car being cut on the paintwork as it was being trimmed, so be very aware of who you are getting to do it.

I'll definitely sort something out when I get my G. If anyone has any pics I'd appreciate those! I did see a Giallo Midas G @ McGurk that has a full film on the front and I was impressed.

Thanx for your replies.

I've got bras on my cars and swear by them. Last year after a dozen of us took our cars abroad (well, to Tasmania wink) for a weekend of hard driving, the cars with bras were perfect (apart from the odd windscreen chip) but those without needed a full front end respray. That's how good the bra is.

Do these cars need to be brand new for these films to work? How about I get a respray and then get them installed?

As far as I know, they dont have to be new, just very clean for the film to stick

I really do hope you all mean the invisible film rather than the wky black bra's the yanks at my local airbase like to don their cars with...

The pic above shows how the film got it's 'car bra' moniker. It looks awful so I would only have the clear one! Apparently, they were devised to protect helicopter rotor blades as any damage increases vibrations inside the cockpit. I had a go trying to punch a car key through one and the bloody stuff stretched for about 2 inches before it gave in! I'm sold on the idea... just gotta find the right car now! biggrin

Cheers gang!
