HSBC CC Card fraud

I phoned up HSBC and told them that I went to a cash machine (abroad) and tried to withdraw money (on my Mastercard). It didn't give me the money

However the amount has shown up on my statement as being taken.

I also tried a Natwest Maestro and they have a log of an attempt but the cash machine refusing to pay it.

Anyway, I am being sent a declaration form to sign - I spose this means they will then investigate it

Question is, what will they ACTUALLY do? request CCTV footage to see if the money was given out? rely on what the machine says? etc? do i stand a chance?

I had this happen, returned it no problem automatically.

I had exactly the same thing happen but in the UK from a cash machine at a McDonalds, it didn't give me any money but did show up as a debit on my statement. HSBC did an investigation but still said that the money was dispensed and couldn't have been less helpful. Transex I think were the company that ran the cash machine were also very unhelpful and wouldn't believe me so I argued with them for a few weeks then wrote off the money. Luckily it was only £20 but it stil pi$$ed me off
