360 Elite, MS steering wheel problems

Somebody must be able to help on this or have seen a similar problem.
Traded in my old 360 for the 360 Elite a few months back as it was getting tired (launch day version) and started to scratch discs.
Went to play PGR last week and use the Microsoft Force feed back steering wheel and pedal set that I had for the 360 and it will not sync or recognise it, also the recharge pack has never worked on the new black controller, is this some way of MS making you buy something else for more money?
Am getting really pee'd off with this as it was not cheap and now is starting to gather dust and i'm gagging to set some good lap times

I recently upgraded to an Elite and had some issues with parts of it, couldn't see downloaded content unless connected to live, couldn't waych avi's unless connected to live, etc, etc...
Anyhoo, turns out they use DRM and everything was locked to my old console.
To resolve, I had to go to xbox.com, into the support tab and there is a bit in the F.A.Q's regarding transfering licences, followed the steps, redownloaded content and all ok now.
Maybe the drivers for the wheel are DRM'd to your old Xbox, I know it's a longshot, but if I were in your boat, I would see it as worth a try at least
You might have to delete the drivers from your hard drive and reinstall again ater transfering the licences.
Anyway, easy to find, easy to do and all step by step instructions given on the site. You need to be logged in as yourself into xbox.com and have the 360 connected to Live with your account before you can start.

Did try it last night, ended up messing up my Live Passport and having to spend an hour sorting that out too. D'oh.
Couldn't find and DRM for the drivers, but did find aload of other stuff that i never knew existed on the 360.
Have got a few other ideas to try, will keep you posted.
Once I get it working I am going to have to get one of the spare STi seats and build a proper setup for the wheel, now why did I sell my mandrel bender and Tig Welder !! LOL
