A few times whilst driving the dash lights have gone of on my car, as if the ignitions been switched of, but the engine keeps going, then all the lights, (including the warning lights) come on at once.
is this a common fault?
Also, the rear lights always seemed to have steam in them, anyone else experiance this?

Not sure about the dash but maybe water in there somewhere ?

As for the rear lights every Murcielago will suffer this, get a drill and a small drill bit and drill the bottom of the lights near the black grill, drill 3 holes along the length of the light, this will allow the air to flow through and not get trapped, done this to mine and they haven't misted up since in over a year !!

I'd write to Sant'Agata and have them add the drilling procedure as a retro-fit 'extra' to all so-troubled Lamborghinis... and send a bill for forward royalties with a sample drill bit as well!!

Thanks for the tip, not sure if Ive got the balls to take a drill to rear of the car!
Ive owned my car for about two years now, obvously had to call AA out a few times!
They can do a diagnostics test using their equipment to diagnose and delete faults, saves going to main dealers!
Seen some advertised on net, have you bought one?if so, which one and is it any good?

Had exactly the same thing on my 100,000 mile Murcielago. Dash lights light up like a Christmas tree, then all goes off. Your traction control may also be affected so be careful.
The problem in my case was that the edge of the metal grill which covers part of the exhaust in the engine compartment, had cut into a main cable just underneath it. The eagle eyed bods at Lambo Manchester spotted it and taped it back up - problem solved.
Similar thing happened two years ago - this time it was the main plug connector at fault underneath the dash. Dash needs lifting out and had the connections cleaned. This solved the problem that time. Think I've had most of the Murcie problems at some time or another smile

Forget your drilling holes st and stuff - just call up Mr S at Lambo HW and get your rear lights changed to the LP640 versions. They don't steam up chaps...

Where do I start? They are a solid car basically and take mileage very well. Problems common to all Murcie's include ticking noises from front brakes on turning - easily corrected. Odd electrical issues, handbrakes are crap (arent all Italian cars), hunting caused by throttle bodies going out of adjustment, but nothing serious.
Interestingly mine had one of the camshaft pulleys shear off which happens with a lot of use/mileage. £13k to fix. This has happened to a mates Murcie too. Lamborghini issued a recall notice recently for LP640's to have a modified camshaft pulley fitted so they must have known about it hmm

First off, how much did the lights cost?
Over last two years the startemotor went then a month later clutch went! Saj at Lambo Manchester sorted it out both times, very good service.
the only other fault right now is when I start it it revs high, about 2ooo revs and the yellow engine light comes on with L illuminated.
If I switch it off then start it again, it doesnt come on.
AA checked it with diagnosics machine and said throttle body housing fault.
Honestly cant see me selling for a long time, but always at the back of my mind Im woried something huge may go wrong!! so feel a lot better now you told me about the milage on years, how long you owned it?

Yeah - thats what I did as well - solves the problem and brings the car bang up to date into the bargain! (always felt the "old" rear lights were out of kilter with the rest of the car)

Read your post and I had the same problem on my car so I spoke to Lambo London and they said to stop the ticking just undo the calipers on the front and take them off the discs and put them back on..........no more ticking. Simple.

Rear lights cost approx £2k. They have to do a little carbon doctoring behind the clusters but in my opinion well worth it coz car looks spanking!

God bless Murci's which do 100k... fair play!

I was chatting to Aras h Farboud last night about your Murcielago, Simon because he's got one too and plans on holding on to it. I remember his 360 which got up to about 90,000 miles but had significant engine and drivetrain bits rebuilt over the years. He basically used the Ferr as a rep-mobile for business travel. His Murcie is a pampered beast now and gets SORN'd over the winter. Sensible.
If you ever fancied a visit to the Arash Cars factory/lockup he'd love to chat I'm sure, and I'm down there in early feb.

Thanks for that I'll defo give him a call.

Thing to remember about my Murcie is that not only has it done 100k its done 20k on the track being hammered for 6 hours a day virtually non stop. I think its a testament to these cars just how well built they are these days compared to even 10 years ago.
- I believe when they cure the ticking noise they grease the calipers which cures it.
