Great Hotel in Paris, Anyone know??

I stayed at Le Meridien Etoile one new years eve and really enjoyed it.

Set on Paris’s “Rive Droite” (“right bank”) of the Seine, Le Méridien Etoile is steps away from the legendary Champs-Elysées. We stayed at the Hotel Duret earlier this year. It ranked well on Trip Advisor, wasn't ridiculously expensive, was nicely furnished had friendly staff and a great breakfast! And a lovely Thai restaurant next door!

Stayed in the summer for our honeymoon. Was superb, all rooms designed by Christian Lacroix and only about 50 yards from the Musse D'Orsay so close to Metro, etc for getting about

The George V is supposed to be very good... its part of the Four Seasons group now. Has a 2 star Michelin restaurant as well if thats your bag.

Excellent when they get it right but it would be nice if they could get it right all the time...
Not your bag though as it isn't the most modern. It's best point is that being 100 yards from the Louve you are bang slap in the middle of everything you might want to see, all within easy walking distance.
Looked through 100's and booked via Eurostar and saved enough for a night at the Opera.

For trendy have a look at some of the places listed on Tablet Hotels. We've stayed at a few different member hotels all over the place and they're all excellent.
George V is fantastic as are a lot of other hotels. It depends what you're willing to pay for. Just don't make the same mistake as me and decide to arrange something last minute and central for New Year when you get there.
We ended up in some 3* hotel close to Place de la République. I'd compare it to Bates Motel in the first instance, it had a lift the size of a gym locker and paper thin walls.
it being NY we ended up more times outside the hotel than in (phew). plus the fact that we were less than sober more often than not.
It really does depend on how much you want to spend. Online is a great resource for luxury hotels. Reviews are easily available for the majority of them.
It depends what you want, sometimes I find the smaller boutique hotels give a better and more personal service than the larger respected establishments.
