Can't believe this, well I can, but I'd rather I didn't have to.

Got to Charlotte yesterday on my way to London, and got bumped in an oversold position. In leu, I got free food, free hotel, free round trip later in the year, and first class upgrade for London today! Didn't mind getting bumped for that.

Today I'm sitting in the lounge, and as much I like CLT, this place is beginning to wear on me. And now, my Philadelphia flight is dying on its knees with air traffic control problems. So I'm well into my second day at this airport, and starting to worry about missing my 2nd London flight tonight.

There is a laptop competition going on - you have to find a plug socket without a laptop owner using it before your battery dies, but stay in earshot of the gate - wouldn't want to miss one of those "your flight has been delayed" announcements. And the breeder behind me is telling the world via her mobile about her second pregnancy.

Sigh.

get a job in the UK without travel?

I sleep in my own bed; and even on call, drive 3 miles to operate on people when they call me in.

do you do your job, or does your job do you?

You'll be murdered by the fiance before you could get on the phone to USAir with the voucher wink

She's under order to avenge my death.

It is. For the first few years.

It can get wearing though as I found last year. Spending 4 months solid living out of a suitcase and returning home for a couple of days at time just to reload and get back on the road does start to take it out of you. Especially when you are pushing some long days repeatedly.

Oh god, not CLT.... I got stuck there before too - I swear the food there gave me the sh*ts...

Nice little NASCAR shop there though - I'm sure you could waste a few minutes in there.
