Gents having finaly finished my aftermarket ECU installation e.g Megasquirt.bounce
I managed to take photos of the installation step by step as I went along.
So If anybody is looking at doing something similar then I have just written a guide to my installation type and what not to do.silly
It's now posted up on the Griff pages.

How did you do the 4-into-1 for the tacho driver?

I used diodes and a pull-down resister, and it works pretty well most of the time but not so good at high revs.

You can also make this circuit, it uses the coil from a relay to simulate an actual coil and produces a nice spiky signal that will drive a Griff rev counter.

It will actually fit inside an old relay unit - which is handy.

Looks like a great project with good results. Out of interest, do you have an idea of how much the entire project cost you (excluding blood, sweat and tears smile )

Are you geting more power at the expence of fuel comsumption, or is the fuel consumption about the same as before.

Ok answers to questions,
Cost well from my memory

ECU with base map £275
Wideband lamba controller £140
Edis 8 and coils £85
new HT leads £95
idle valve £20
suppressors £18
trigger wheel £35
installation of wideband boss into exhaust + fitting of trigger wheel £200 ish.
old duff ECU £20
odds and sods and general wire for installation £50
Tube for temp sensor £20 ( ebay)
Total, don't want to add it up.whistle
Looking back now there are savings to be made if you shop around more.

As for the tacho feed, I also tried the relay boost but found it kept tripping out the ECU for some reason confused

Fuel consumption
All I can go off if the power level, the original car was 262 bhp.
the base map that comes with the ECU with no adjustments gave me 274 bhp, but was running very lean e.g 15:1
Then put the fuel up this time 14:1 power gave 288
Then again 13.5 :1 gave 301 bhp
and finaly 13:1 gave 304.4 bhp which is where we left it.
Obviously that is at full tilt and when crusing it goes to around 14:1 so the fuel consumption is not as high.
From what I understand the original Map on the old Lucus system does run the car lean, but others could answer that.

Hope that answers the questions.

Very good write up. I had a Greddy Emanage so I felt your pain cutting wires.
