I got one for Christmas and havent been able to put he fecking thing down!!!
Still only managed to complete one face and the top rows of the 4 touching faces.
The world record is 10.48 seconds FFS!!!

It can be quite tricky, can take a good few minutes to solve

Me too. But I also got the leaflet that tells you how to solve it. Now I just need to memorise it!

Great fun though. I had one years and years ago and the only way I could solve it then was to smash it up and re-assemble it.

Oh, and I think the record is 7.08 seconds

Best way is to peel the stickers off and stick them on as you see fit

Then you'll never actually be able to solve it properly. Good cheats soon progress to the 'smash and re-assemble'

Erm, well, a "few" hours of practice, and a good (photographic) memory helps

Once I get one face, I can do the rest blindfolded (almost) once you've learnt the moves it's quite easy. I have'nt touched one for at least 5 years but I bet I could complete one in less 5 mins first time out

I bought one last year to have a play with. The thing with them is you need to memorise the turns (algorithms) required to move the pieces around without messing up parts already completed. Once you know these it's easy, but obviously learning them correctly is quite difficult. I don't think you get anywhere by just playing around with it, you need a system for moving the colours around.

The best tip is to start with the edges and corners as these obviously can only go correctly in one place, having more than one colour on the block.

I think I do them 'wrong'. I just sit there and twist things randomly until "Oh hey look, I've got most of that face", then I twist it to get another face and just ruin the first.

Then I lob the thing at the wall in anger.

We used to have timed RUBIK races in school. (Back in the early '80s).

My best ever was 58secs. How one earth anyone could get to 7secs is unbelievable.
