Guys, have you seen this ad??

www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=13428&s=81&sc=1G6V

if you have a 944 shell to bung all this running gear in(James you have a 944S with blown engine now?) it could provide a lot of fun.

It was £1500 origially when it got e-mailed to me but price seems to have gone up a bit now?

Thanks Iggy,

I saw the ad yesterday too (isn't the PH new ad notification facility great?). I've swapped a few emails with the guy about it.

I'm always suspicious of turbo engines that appear to have a patchy service history. I'd hate to part with my hard earned cash, just to find the engine blows up in a few miles.

Cheers for the heads up Iguana

Looking at it i reckon £1,850 is very OTT in my opinion, might be tempted at half that, but there is no gurantee that any of the running gear will be worth salvaging.

Yeah its a difficult one.

Just from the pics I didnt think it would be a cost effective fix as a complete car if it was on the insurance register, simply because 944s can cost a heck of a lot to fix probably, hence why I thought it might be good for parts for you guys.

If its a genuine low miler with full history & its not on the register then maybe that changes things but it still doesnt look like a cheap fix. (might make a cheap track beast tho- as long as it runs true why bother to fix it!)

Either way that interior has to go in the bin unless your name is Don Johnson

Funny thing is I saw this and thought it was right up your Strasse Iguana.

makings of a track beast....Seems the kind of donor car where you go in with a silly bid and see if they hit you!

And everyone would stay well out of your way once they saw the state of it, looking like a mobile accident!

Funily enough clubsport I did look at a 968CS in far worse condition than that as a track toy, very very cheap, but a bit too messed up even for me.

Did think of a bid on this one but in truth as great & easily tunable as they are to 300+bhp, a 944T IMHO is not a great track toy if you have a tight budget, if it was an S2 & a bit cheaper tho I'd probably have already bought it!

Also & rather worryingly I do seem to have Caterhams on the brain at the mo...... must resist till I have a bigger budget or I'll be eating gruel for months....

edited to add-

Oh I forgot to add- did anyone check to see if it was Domsters number on the ad, coz perhaps he has been Badger hunting in a borrowed 944 & not told us

I exchanged a couple of emails with the guy. He accused me of being a trader, and refused to drop his price. I told him that it was only good for spares, but he insists that "all" it needs is a new front and rear wing, door, and rear end. Oh, and a clutch.

The roof looks ok though

I agree. If it was half the price, it would be worth doing something with
