Kill it, cook it, eat it.
Discussion
I saw, what I presume is a repeat on BBC3 last night.
The Beeb must have deliberately gone out of its way to select the most unrepresentitive group of wussies in chrisendom. Ignoring the vegan and veggie, one would not even touch the feather of a shot duck, one man nearly had hysterics and started to gag at the prospect of plucking it.
The human race is doomed, I tell you. FFS, it's meat - get on and deal with it.

How do these people get on the show?
Do they see an advert saying WANTED: People to go and shoot and kill and butcher things and think 'Oooh, thats compatible with my belief system as a veggie/vegan/big wuss - I think I'll apply'
Unfortunately it does represent society.Do they see an advert saying WANTED: People to go and shoot and kill and butcher things and think 'Oooh, thats compatible with my belief system as a veggie/vegan/big wuss - I think I'll apply'

Kids I once was helping out with didn't even know where lamb came from.

We suffer from trying to intellectualize (sp?) everything. Deal with it - don't critise someone's personal choice particulary when you chose to be there. The Beeb must have deliberately gone out of its way to select the most unrepresentitive group of wussies in chrisendom. That bloke was a right idiot, for the sake of the exercise he could have tried.

Well, duh! A programme full of people happily plucking away whilst nattering about last night's game wouldn't be terribly interesting now would it. Of course they're going to choose people who are going to react badly (plus, of course, anybody applying to be on this kind of thing is by definition an attention wDo they see an advert saying WANTED: People to go and shoot and kill and butcher things and think 'Oooh, thats compatible with my belief system as a veggie/vegan/big wuss - I think I'll apply'

If you arent prepared to kill it you shouldnt be eating it.
Modern food supply chain has removed us from the means of food production and that is wrong, IMHO.
Meat is not and never will be a right.
I agree totally.Modern food supply chain has removed us from the means of food production and that is wrong, IMHO.

Even more annoying is Vegetarians that can't prepare/cook vegetables properly!

If I'm shooting vermin scum that destroy my garden rabbits and I accidentally hit a vegetable, will I sprout a beard and sandals?
Yep - not just a beard and sandals... white socks and sandals

Wouldn't want to develop an unhealthy enthusiasm for lentils now.
I only ever shoot when I know its small scale and a walking shoot (not standing around waiting for beaters to flush up hundreds of the poor blighters) and we all walk away with a brace of pheasants (if we're lucky). Get home, hang them for a few days depending on the temperature and then pluckt or skin them depending on how we're going to cook them.
Thoroughly satisfying and, I beleive, the right way to go about things.
Done the same with rabbits and other little cuddly creatures

A lot of people don't realise that rabbits are vermin and, as a land owner, you have an obligation to control their population.
Generally though, I'd agree that if you shoot something on your land you should eat it, unless it's a pikey*. In which case the pigs can have a good feed.
*I know, I'm going straight to hell without collecting £200 for that one
