Due to living in a flat I always have to use either an automatic car wash, jet wash or the local lithuanians to clean

I've always avoided the automatic car wash as I've been under the impression it's the worst for leaving scratches on the paintwork. After this feature it appears I'm wrong.

Question is, does everyone agree with their findings? and should I just use an automatic car wash from now on (until I have a driveway anyway)?

Cheers!

It's a shame they didn't do a 4th test, with a pro detailer (like Paul who did the preparation on the cars) givin the car a "proper wash", no correction or waxing, just a maintenance detail, just to show how much better hand washing CAN be.

Yeah I'd have liked to see an owner with a sponge and a bucket wash as well.

The guys on the detailingworld website are having kittens over the piece when a couple of them offered their services to 5th Gear to show how a winter wash should be done and then how to do some more protective work on the exterior and interior. Bloody TV companies.

They only tested one of each, hardly representative.

Our local Eastern Europeans do a very good job and are very careful. Not as good as a professional detailer, no doubt, but for a routine clean they are good. I'm vaguely planning a pro detail when I get the nose re-sprayed in a year or two, mind, partly out of curiosity!
