Just a couple of points from my dodgy start to the New Year -

On Saturday my Elise hopelessly broke down on me. My first ever real break down, I was stranded with just a jumper in Artic temperatures whilst the long process of initailly trying to fix it, calling Jules and Marcus for help!, swearing alot, calling my Mum, calling the RAC and getting towed home took place.

At that point all I could think about was -

1. Why did I quit smoking a couple of days ago?

2. What model 996 should I get?

3. Why didn't I pick up a coat?

4. How much its this useless car going to cost me this time?

5. This is a bad area, are those kids going to steal my watch?

Its now Wednesday and I'd like to share my retrospective feelings -

1.RAC membership is worth its weight in gold, they were superb.

2. It's been 4 days and I miss the car like crazy, how those of you how sell your Lotus and move on to a new marque can do it is beyond me, your a better man than I.
Even when she was being unloaded off the back of the truck people stopped to look at her, I'm driving a lovely new mini with all the mod cons whilst she's away and it doesn't come close to the pleasure of Lotus ownership.

3. Sportomotive in Salisbury are just brilliant, they repaired the Liz that I dumped on them within 48 hours, the bill is a fraction of what I was bracing myself for
and the service I have received from Dave and Cos has, as ever, been first class. (Broken wire that fed the fuel pump in case you were wondering)

4. I like smoking and I don't want a Porsche.

Happy New Year!

Glad it's fixed Chris, enjoy the car when you get it back smile

I don't think i'll be out of the fold for much longer, shame I can't quite stretch to the Silver Honda'd S1 that's on PH at the mo (After it's had sun strip / stripes removed) frown

Bummer - we've all had those moments, glad it's sorted for you.

TBH I could never go back to having an Elise as an only car. I love the heater, the aircon, the heated seats, the Bose stereo and the V6 of the Datsun too much!

Easy - get a proper S2 with s/c yota and you can have all the above - great heater, aircon, performance of a v6, stereo and even the heated seats though thats a diy kit.
